Things I have done this week to please my Heavenly Father are prayer, read the Bible, agree to drive a small group of people to the homeless Mission in Chicago so they and I can minister to these precious souls. Also I had a talk with my neighbor this afternoon about what to watch out for when talking with people who represent cults or a different gospel. He is a Christian man but needs counseling in this area. I also please God with my thoughts. Keeping them on things above not on things of this earth Colossians 3:2. I ought to be a better witness for Him. That would please Him. I also need to surrender more of my finances to him. Trust more He will take care of my family and I. Thanks Wanda for being a blessing! God always blesses obedience. He also tells us, 2 Timothy 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." And then we read, Romans 6:12, 13 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God." Being saved is only the beginning of the Believer's life. By reading God's Word everyday and talking to Him in prayer daily and often we grow in grace and in the knowledge of The Lord Jesus Christ. Any who read and obey, God will bless and as maturity comes, Christ will be seen in us and through us, giving others a witness and testimony of our great God. It was a true humbling experience. It brought us closer to the Lord and has made us see life in a whole new way. We realize that we don't need so many things in our lives and having our Heavenly father, family and our health is more than enough. We have always known that God is greater than us but we didn't realize really how much we came to really rely on His grace and mercy during this time. It has brought us to where we are now a humble family. Blessings to all. It wasn’t until about 2 years ago when my family was facing numerous things and we didnt know when the storm would end. Yet, He surrounds us with beauty in His handiwork, in the variety of flowers, topography, birds, trees, animals and people, including how each physically appears. It is clear to me He wants us to have variety and beauty, and yes, even in the gemstones He creates. The things of true value can not be bought...salvation, friends, dear relatives...but I can not imagine Our Lord frowning on us for enjoying the beauty He creates, which include gemstones, beautiful horses of a variety of hues and markings, and they are what to me seem PART of the good and perfect gifts He enables us sometimes to enjoy. That is the main thing I do not understand about Amish lifestyles...very plain, similar clothing and usually dull colored but very good horses with accent on plain things. I own many clothes bought at yard sales and thrift shops. I often choose the prettiest, not to "outshine" anyone else ("home made" is usually costlier) but because God gave me a desire to see beauty in souls and spirits as well as with my eyes. God accents beauty in souls AND physical things. An unlovely person is unlovely in diamonds and furs or rags and a lovely soul is lovely in rags or whatever they choose to wear.
