My husband and I have visited many Amish communities around the country. Some of our favorite places to visit are Holmes County, Ohio, Northeastern Indiana, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and the community known as Pinecraft in Sarasota, Florida. What Amish communities have you visited, and which ones are your favorite?

My husband and I have visited the Amish in northeastern Indiana, Ohio, and Lancaster, PA.  Our favorite is Lancaster.  For many years we stayed at Beacon Camping near Intercourse, PA.  The Amish children would bring their pies, breads, cookies, etc. around in a little wagon to sell to the campers.  We became friends with an Amish family that we still visit at their home each time we're there.  My husband loves the chocolate shoofly pies that Mary bakes special for him.  I'm allergic to chocolate, so I get the regular shoofly pies and the whoopie pies (pumpkin my favorite).

Chocolate shoofly pie is very good. In fact, I included it in my first Amish cookbook. There's also a recipe for a lemon shoofly pie, as well as the traditional shoofly pie.

I have visited the Amish communities around Holmes County, Ohio, and also Lancaster, Pennsylvania. There also are many Amish that live in the countryside around me, specifically Sherman, New York, Mayville, New York, and Conewango Valley, New York. I love seeing all of the Amish! I do think that there are many differences between the areas.

I knew there were some Amish communities in New York, but we haven't had the privilege of visiting any of them yet. Hoping to someday, though.

I also have visited Holmes County, Ohio, Northern Indiana and Lancaster PA.  I also like Daviess County Indiana which is located in southern IN.  It is very non commercial, but there is lots to see if you just drive around.  There are also 3 or 4 Amish themed restaurants to eat at and a nice B and B called "Grabers."

We just visited Daviess County, IN this last Friday and had a wonderful time.   If you want to see a lot of the Amish go to the Dinky's Auction on Friday night.  I have never seen so many buggies in my life.  We also went that day to a lot of the greenhouses

that the amish have.  They really know how to grow beautiful flowers, to say the least I came home with a van full of flowers.  We are planning another trip up there in 2 weeks, can't wait.  Kay

We have not been to Daviess County, IN yet, but hope to visit there some day. You're right about the Amish knowing how to grow beautiful flowers. On my husband's photography page you'll see several pictures of some lovely Amish flower gardens.

The only Amish communities I have visited is Lancaster County Pa.  We went there in 08.  There were 11 of us in my family so we rented a house for our stay.  It was between Bird in Hand and Intercourse.  We had a great time.  I  really want o go back.  My Aunt lives in that county.  Very beautiful county.

Well for Amish settlements in the US we just happened to find the Conewango Valley,INew York, Cherry Creek in particular. It was amazing at how many amish were just moving about. It was pouring rain and there was still buggies everywhere.

I have been to the settlement outside Fenelon Falls, Ontario, Lindsay, Ontario and Elmira and area in western Ontario. We are planning a trip to Lancaster, Pa and area in 3 or so weeks. I want to got to Holmes County, Ohio later this summer or early this fall.

I would really like to do a farm stay while in Lancaster. Any suggestions from those that have been there as must see/must do's speak up and let me know!

Our favorite Amish community to visit is Lancaster County…been going there for 30+ years…I have a business so fortunately most of the wonderful shops (not the tourist shops) are located in this beautiful area so it's a great excuse to always go there for visits as well as business.

We're not gawkers (is that a word…lol)…we just love what we see and feel the peace.

Several years ago we went to Indiana for a couple days.

Then on our way home from PA one year we stopped in Ohio.
