My husband and I visit an Amish community several times a year in Ethridge, TN.  We always have an excellent itme.  My husband loves to watch the hay mowers being pulled by horses.  I love to buy amish made baskets.  We have had several pieces of furniture made for our home.  To me they are priceless.  Being around Amish people has helped me to desire a simpler life and to appreciate the things that I have.

Sincerely,

Anne

I am in IN and I saw an amish young lady at the doctors office She  was helping a friend with her children and she told me Amish ways Have changed from the past from the olden days in IN that they no longer shun their family members or those in the community. Is it the same in TN I wonder? sf smile Reader Forum

While there might be some Amish in Indiana who don't practice shunning, many still do, although for most it's not as severe as it once was. The Amish we know in TN do practice shunning.
