Quick Root Beer
In a gallon jar, dissolve the yeast in 1 cup warm water. Add the sugar and root beer extract with enough warm water to dissolve thoroughly. Stir until dissolved. Fill the jar with water and let set in the sun or a warm place for several hours or until strong enough. Cool. This can be made in the morning and ready to drink by noon.
Heat ingredients in 1 quart of water until dissolved. Add the remaining water, chill and serve. Makes 1 gallon.
Lemon Shoofly Pie
Ingredients for crumbs:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients and work together like crumbs.
Ingredients for filling:
Combine all the ingredients together and pour into an unbaked pie shell. Sprinkle crumbs evenly on top of filling. Bake for 45-60 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook noodles in salt water until done. Fry ground beef and onions in butter until done. Combine soups, sour cream, peas, meat, noodles, and half the bread crumbs in a large bowl and mix. Pour into a greased baking dish, top with remaining bread crumbs, and bake for 1 hour.
Apple Crumb Bread
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cream together in a bowl the butter, sugar, and eggs. Add the baking soda dissolved in 2 tablespoons milk. Finally, add in the flour, salt, vanilla, and chopped apples. Pour into a 9 by 5 1/2 inch greased bread pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon, butter, flour, and brown sugar that have been combined together. Bake for 1 hour.
Melt chocolate chips and paraffin over low heat. Set aside. Combine the sugar, oleo, peanut butter, and Rice Krispies. Form into small balls and dip balls in the melted chocolate and paraffin.
Stuffed Green Pepper Soup
1/2 cup green peppers, chopped
Combine all the ingredients in a large saucepan and cook until the peppers are done.

Sauté onion in butter and add to the mashed carrots. Beat eggs, add milk and bread crumbs. Mix with carrots, add celery and seasonings. Shape into a loaf and place in a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until done.
Overnight Potato Salad
Boil the potatoes whole and put them and the hard-boiled eggs through a grater. Mix together with onion and celery, then add dressing and let set overnight.
Mix the above ingredients together in a bowl and add the desired amount to the potato salad. If there’s too much dressing, save the rest for another salad.
